Registration Instructions
Fill out the Google Form to register. RMC will email you with payment instructions within 48 hrs.
Upon receipt of payment, you are confirmed as a player in the tournament and your status in the sign-up list will be updated.
The current registration cap is 160 players. Spots will be available on a first-come, first-served basis to players submitting payments. Registration is open until April 15th, 2024, or when we reach our registration cap. In the event that the cap is reached, you are still able to be wait-listed if a spot opens up.
Food
A wide array of dining options are available in the connected South Cafe & Marketplace. Several more dining options are available in the West entrance between Exhibit Hall A and B.
A number of other restaurants are also available very near the convention center itself.
Accommodations
There are two hotels attached to the Columbus Convention Center – a Drury Inn and a Hyatt Regency. There are other hotels within walking distance.
Columbus is a very drivable city, but if you stay further away from the convention center, we recommend driving or taking a taxi/ride-share service – Columbus’s public transportation is typically not very accessible.
Prizes
Door prizes will be handed out to players, and trophies/medals will be given to the top 8 or top 16 finishers, depending on attendance.
Rules
Tournament format will be the 2022 WRC ruleset, with the following allowed variations:
Mod.2.1 – Red Fives
Mod.3.2 – Nagashi Mangan
Mod.6.3 – Lower Penalties (The “Optional Lower Penalties” column in the table)
Structure
The tournament will consist of 7 hanchan of pool play, followed by a cut to top players for playoff rounds. If attendance is 64 people or less, top 8 will cut for semifinals; 65 or more, the cut will be top 16 instead. The semifinals and finals (top 4) will each consist of 2 hanchan played with the same 3 opponents. If the cut is top 8, the top 2 finishers from each table progress to the finals; if the cut is top 16, the top 1 finisher from each table will progress to the finals.
Each round will be a 75 minute timed game +0 (finish the current hand when time is called). The semifinals will also be timed in the same manner; the finals will be untimed games.

Round 1 start: 10:00am
Round 2 start: 11:30am
<There will be an additional hour here for players to break for lunch>
Round 3 start: 2:00pm
Round 4 start: 3:30pm
Round 5 start: 5:00pm
Day 2 – Sunday, May 12
Check in: 9:00am
Round 6 start: 9:45am
Round 7 start: 11:15am
Semifinals start: 1:45pm
Finals start when semifinals have concluded.
COVID Guidance
At this time, there are currently no Columbus or Ohio mask mandates in place. We will have disposable masks available for you if you do not have your own and would like one.
If you sit at a table with a player who requests you wear a mask, we require that you do so.
Refund Policy
By submitting payment we assume you will participate in the tournament. Refunds for withdrawals will only be honored in the case of emergencies (e.g. exposure to COVID, flight delays/cancellations). If you are not certain if your emergency qualifies, please reach out to us.
